Past Graduates
“It's impossible to mention just one thing that Jesus has done for me during this time but one thing that I can say is that He definitely impacted my heart in a wonderful way. I remember this year in the beginning of DD when he changed the meaning of my name. That was a before and an after for me. Because he changed not just its meaning but also He gave me a new identity. So, that has changed the way I see myself, how I see others, even the relationship that I have with him has changed, because of that it is getting deeper and closer. That is what he has done for me and I hope it is being reflected in other people.”
“Over the past 9 months Jesus has changed me in so many ways, I could be here all day talking about it. The biggest change I have seen is how much Jesus has softened my heart. Life had hardened me and although this past year has been so challenging, being in Defiant Disciple and having this new family to meet with each week to lean into, to learn from, to grow with, to change with, I have been able to face some of my biggest hurdles with a smile on my face, a new song in my heart and a compassion towards people I never thought possible. In the past, I would shut myself off from the world and isolate myself to hide the pain I was experiencing. Now, I am able to surrender my problems to Jesus first because He is the only one who can heal me and make me whole again. I have found a peace I never thought possible. I have made peace with my past, and have discovered the best way to tackle any issues that come up, is to take them to Jesus first.”
“It is really difficult to articulate what I have experienced over the last 9 months but to sum up, Jesus has given me hope/purpose for my life. I'm a relatively new Christian, and what Defiant Disciple has done for me was give me a space to explore and learn God's word and how to apply what it means to be a Christian in the real world. Prior to Experience Church, I was very lost and was going through so much in my life. I truly feel that God sent out a liferaft for me, and I was meant to be here. Since then, I have learned to trust God in his plan for me, and it will all be okay. I'm grateful for the time that I had in Defiant Disciples, and I encourage people to take a leap of faith when God calls to you.”
“I'd say that not only was every aspect of community and the content transformative, but I feel like the structure was an unsung hero especially for me. In a nutshell, I have had a great environment to be developed by the spirit in order to grow and execute my faith. The structure of examen, sharing and consideration aided me in the outward practice and development of my faith through the spirit. The deliberate reflection through scripture provided a time of meditation on the truth and this was always followed by sharing with the group. Without the group, many aspects of my life wouldn't have been brought up in prayer nor wisdom offered. In the presence of other group members coming together in God's name to seek and grow in truth was also accountability. This meant that many times I made immediate decisions to act in faith and asked the group to hold me accountable. In one of the first sessions I decided to join the hospitality team because through examen I realized that I had been called to learn to reflect my inner faith outwardly and looking stoic or reflective wasn't really helping me share the gospel or reach people.”
Activate Day
“I was overjoyed to fully step into my spiritual gifts! I have always been hesitant to share what God placed on my heart due to a language barrier, and boldly speak but today I delivered a prophetic words that truly resonated and was confirmed by those I was speaking over.”
“Every teaching was thoughtfully designed—salvation, baptism, healing, freedom, and the prophetic. The prophetic words really resonated with me, especially since I often second-guess what God has spoken to me and others. Looking back, I realize that God truly has been talking, even in the everyday things.”
“I was taught how to properly pray for others to find freedom.”
“I received freedom from controlling my spiritual journey and to trust the Holy Spirit.”
“I learned how to walk in freedom from perfectionism and rest in the truth that God has accomplished everything for me. I've learned to rest and embrace the fullness of His victory.”
“Jesus made me realize he gave me Ideas and Ideas are gifts in themselves.”
Freedom Day
“Jesus healed me from the fear of confession, the fear of myself, and from the bondage that comes with holding in the dark secrets of sin that I have hidden for so many years and tried to fix on my own. I am healed from things I have been praying for healing from and things I didn’t even know I needed healing from. I have learned how to become free and how to grow in that freedom.”
“Jesus loves me so much, He gives me freedom from my addictions and gives me peace!”
“Jesus gave me courage to share my story and pursue my freedom.”
“Just the fact that I'm able to speak and share among a group and not be held back by fear is a huge HUGE win for me.”
“Jesus is healing and setting me free from depression. He will continue to heal me as I walk in discipleship and with brothers and sisters in faith. It's not that hard to share or speak and be vulnerable.”
“When the Holy Spirit is among me I can’t help but smile with joy because I know his presence is with me.”
“Jesus showed me that He knows me even better than I know myself, and He’s always been working for my good! He wants me to be free and alive and awakened even more than I want that for myself!”
“I don’t think I realized that a lot of these things in my life were demons. Today I was able to recognize these demons that I thought were normal and tell them to leave. Now that I’m aware of them, I’m able to call it out by name and become aware of what to look for.”
“Jesus broke the chains of fear!!”
“Jesus freed me from arrogance and pride.”
“I feel free. I AM FREE!”
